Primary Concepts : Satan

Iblis (the Devil) or Shaytan (Satan) is the personification of evil for Muslims. The Quran describes him as a fallen angel who was cast out of heaven for refusing to bow to Adam as commanded by God (Surah 2:34). Satan is believed to tempt people constantly in an effort to lead them away from God’s divine plan. Elsewhere the Quran describes Satan as a jinn (Surah 18:50).
